The unintended expat blogger behind Broad River Grid

Hi there, I am Sofia
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent and an expat based in Barcelona, Spain.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn’t in the original plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and a lot of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, met other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Broad River Grid
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real-life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting our discoveries.
If you have questions about family life in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain, please feel free to get in touch.
Cheers,
Sofia
